Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Press Play Ventures delivers an AI Pre-Accelerator program for women, proudly backed by Innovation Victoria. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Press Play Ventures, and "the Site" refers to pressplay.ventures and any pages or forms we operate on it.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). By using the Site or applying to our program, you accept the practices described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

Most of the information we hold is information you have chosen to give us. This includes:

• Application details: your name, email address, phone number, location, professional background, and details of the idea or business you want to build.
• Newsletter and event sign-ups: your name and email address, and sometimes your state or the stage your idea is at.
• Program participation: if you join a cohort, records relating to attendance, progress, feedback and any work you share with facilitators or your cohort.
• Correspondence: the content of emails or messages you send us.

Information collected automatically

We do not automatically collect your name, address or email address from a simple visit to the Site. Our hosting and analytics tools do record standard technical information such as browser type, device and operating system, approximate location, referring page and IP address. We use this to understand how the Site is performing and to improve it.

Payment information

If you are offered a place and pay the refundable commitment fee, or the program fee if you are outside Victoria, payment is handled by a third party payment provider. We do not store your full card details.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• assess applications and select participants for each cohort;
• administer prizes and awards, and contact winners;
• deliver the program, including workshops, coaching and community activities;
• send you program updates, event invitations and our newsletter, where you have asked to receive them;
• respond to your questions and requests;
• report to our funder and partners on program reach and outcomes;
• improve the program, the Site and our services; and
• meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

4. When we share information

We do not sell or lease your personal information to anyone. We may share it in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers: the platforms we use to run the program and the Site, including our application form, email, hosting, video conferencing and course delivery tools. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
• Program partners, mentors and coaches: where it is needed to deliver a session, provide coaching, or make an introduction you have asked for.
• Our funder: we report to Innovation Victoria on program delivery and outcomes. Reporting is aggregated wherever possible.
• Where required by law: or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Press Play Ventures, our participants or others.

Some of our providers may store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

If we would like to feature your story publicly, for example as a case study or in program marketing, we will ask for your permission first.

5. Cookies and website analytics

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device to remember preferences and understand how the site is used. We use a small number of cookies and analytics tools to see which pages are visited and how people find us. This information is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.

Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when one is being set. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.

6. Marketing and opting out

If you subscribe to our newsletter or apply to the program, we may send you information about Press Play events, workshops and future cohorts. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time. You can also email admin@pressplay.ventures and we will remove you from our list.

Opting out of marketing does not stop essential messages about an application you have made or a cohort you are part of.

7. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is held in secure, access-controlled systems operated by us or by our service providers.

No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, you send it to us at your own risk.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as our funding and legal obligations require, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete, or ask us to delete it. Email admin@pressplay.ventures and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and in limited cases we may not be able to delete information we are required to keep.

9. Links to other websites

The Site links to other websites, including our application form, partner organisations and social media. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing information to them.

10. Young people

The Press Play program is designed for adults and the Site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it from our records.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with the date it was last updated. Please check back periodically, as your continued use of the Site means you accept the policy as it then stands.
